Italian engineering major Danieli, via Danieli Centro Recycling (DCR), will supply a new shredder-based scrap processing plant for Barca Metals at its newly developed yard in Razorback, New South Wales (Australia). The project strengthens advanced scrap recycling capacity in the region as demand rises for cleaner ferrous feedstock and higher recovery of valuable metals.
At the heart of the installation is a DCR 2227 heavy-duty shredder powered by a 4,000 hp (3,000 kW) main motor with Danieli’s variable-speed drive technology. The setup is designed to cut electricity consumption by up to 20% while delivering a steady 100 tonnes per hour of high-quality ferrous output.
Upstream, a ZDS 250-800 preshredder will help safely de-bulk incoming material and stabilize feeding. Downstream, a full separation line—combining magnetic stages, air separation and non-ferrous recovery equipment—aims to produce cleaner outputs, improve safety, and lift overall plant profitability.
