SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant has signed a deal with Forbes Marshall to introduce hydrogen injection in Blast Furnace-1, marking a major step toward low-carbon steelmaking in India. The project, linked to the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aims to partially replace conventional carbon-based inputs and reduce emissions in ironmaking. With technical support tied to the hydrogen injection system and a retrofit-led approach, the move strengthens Bokaro’s position in the green steel transition and highlights growing industry focus on cleaner, future-ready steel production.
