NTPC placed an order with state-owned engineering firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) for the construction of the 1,600 MW Singrauli Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STPP) Stage-III.
According to a statement from BHEL, the plant will be built next to the current 2,000 MW thermal power station (TPS) at Singrauli in the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh.
NTPC's first power plant in the state was Singrauli TPS, which was established by BHEL in 1982. Since their commissioning, the machines that BHEL had previously installed at Singrauli have operated remarkably well, the company stated.
According to the statement, under International Competitive Bidding (ICB), BHEL has bagged an order from NTPC for setting up the 2x800 MW Singrauli Supercritical Thermal Power Plant (STPP) Stage-III on Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) basis.
Key equipment for the project will be supplied by BHEL's manufacturing units at Haridwar, Trichy, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ranipet, and Bhopal.
