ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has become the first company to receive Strategic Investment Plan approval under the Centre’s Rs 60,000 crore PM-SETU scheme. The approval covers the Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster in Andhra Pradesh and marks a major step toward industry-led skill development in India.

With this move, Andhra Pradesh becomes the first state to operationalise an industry partnership under PM-SETU. The scheme aims to upgrade 1,000 government ITIs through a hub-and-spoke model, where industry partners help improve curriculum, training infrastructure and employability outcomes.

For the steel sector, the development is significant as AM/NS India’s participation can help create a more skilled workforce for advanced manufacturing, plant operations and emerging industrial technologies. The Visakhapatnam cluster is expected to act as a pilot for similar collaborations across India, supporting the government’s larger goal of building a future-ready workforce for Viksit Bharat 2047.
